I had another nightmare last night. Only this one was longer than the last, and decidedly more unsettling. I had awoken in the middle of the night, in our team’s quarters, to the sound of knocking at the door. No one else woke up, only me, and when I went to the door, Lakoda stood on the other side, outside. We suddenly found ourselves on the bridge of a Fire Navy ship, deafened by the sounds of war. We soon realized the Fire Navy was sieging a fleet of Water Tribe boats. Zero was in command. I don’t know why he, the Fire Nation, would wage war against the Water Tribes. It made no sense, but I had to stop it, and that is when I did something incredible. I felt the earth in the metal of the ship. The entire ship, every piece, spoke to me like the earth. And I moved it. I closed the cannon that was firing. It felt powerful, but somehow natural. I brought the floor up from under Zero and twisted it around his body, holding him. The sounds of firing and waves crashing stopped, and that’s when we realized we three were all alone. Not just on our ship, every ship was empty, Fire Nation and Water Tribe alike. I needed to be sure, and I couldn’t see everything from the bridge. That’s when I did something unimaginable. As I peeled back the top of the bridge, the entire world went away. Everything. There was nothing left but darkness, and three faces. Only they weren’t the stone masks from before. These were dark, black skulls, like where there should be something there was nothing. They asked the same question, “who are you.” They gave the same response to my answer, “you are not the one we seek.” And this time, they said they were looking for the Avatar. Is the Spirit World trying to tell me something? These can’t be just dreams, can they? If this is real, and there is something looking for the Avatar, I think I need to find him or her before they do.
